How we look after your details

What we keep when you get in touch, and how to have it changed or deleted.

Who we are

Lowthian Stone is run by Hugh Lowthian at West Brownrigg Farm, Plumpton, Penrith CA11 9PF. We decide what happens to your details. Email Westbrownrigg@outlook.com or ring 07738 190705.

What we keep

If you use the enquiry form, we get what you type into it: your name, phone number or email, the stone you're interested in, quantities, where your project is and your message. If you ring or email, we keep your number or email address and what you asked about.

The website's server also records the internet (IP) address a form was sent from, and the email or phone number on it, in a log kept to stop spam and to check that enquiries are getting through.

Why we keep it

To answer your enquiry, give you a quote, and arrange a visit or a collection. The law lets us do this because you asked us to get back to you, and because it's needed before we can sell you stone. When you buy from us, we also keep a record of the sale because tax law requires it.

We don't use your details for marketing or sell them, and only the companies named below handle them for us.

Who handles it for us

Messages from the enquiry form are sent by email to our Outlook inbox, which Microsoft runs. The website is hosted by Namecheap and looked after by Cascade UK, who can see the server log mentioned above but don't use it for anything else.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry or order. Sales records are kept for as long as tax law requires. Ask us and we'll delete anything we no longer need.

Cookies and analytics

This website doesn't set cookies and doesn't run any analytics or tracking. The Google Maps link on the visit page is an ordinary link, so Google is only involved if you click it.

Your rights

You can ask to see the details we hold about you, have them corrected or deleted, or object to how we use them. Email or ring us using the details above. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
